This carved pine eagle with outstretched wings is well carved both front and back. The head is turned to the side with beak open and talons grasping a rocky mount. There is a 3" deep wooden "frame" forming a base that is attached to the bottom of the carving with square nails. There are wooden dowels visible at the top of the wings ( now cut off and level with the top edge of the wings) indicating that this eagle was once attached to something. It may have been part of a lecturn or perhaps it was once attached to a pediment . The overall surface shows signs ofweathering. The wingspan is 34" and the height is 26". $ 2400.
